Michaela and Chandler’s Intimate Celebration with Getting Ready at the St Julien Hotel

Michaela and Chandler’s St Julien Hotel and Flagstaff House wedding in Boulder was an intimate, thoughtfully paced celebration that prioritized experience, connection, and calm over false expectations.

Some wedding days feel loud in the best way. Others feel intentional, unhurried, and quietly beautiful. Their wedding day belonged firmly to the second category.

They began the morning getting ready at the St Julien Hotel & Spa, then moved up Flagstaff Road for a ceremony and brunch reception at the iconic Flagstaff House. The result was a Boulder wedding day that felt elevated, calm, and deeply personal from start to finish.

Getting Ready at the St. Julien Hotel

The day began at the St Julien Hotel, one of our favorite places for getting ready on a Boulder wedding morning. The rooms are filled with soft natural light, clean architectural lines, and a sense of calm that immediately slows everything down. The St Julien just works SO well for couples planning a Flagstaff House wedding, offering a refined starting point that pairs beautifully with the mountain setting to come.

Michaela got ready here surrounded by quiet excitement and intentional energy. No rushing, no clutter, just space to breathe before the day unfolded. We especially loved witnessing Michaela’s first look with her dad… There wasn’t a dry eye around afterwards.

First Look in the courtyard of St. Julien

Next, they had the most amazing first look in the courtyard, where they got to see each other for the first time. It was so fun to watch them adore one another, and sink into each other after not getting to see one another all morning. It was just the two of them, and it felt steady, slow, and intimate.

Then, we got creative with them for some portraits in the lobby and courtyard! There was rain and we didn’t get to the ceremony at the next location yet, so we played inside more than we did outside!

And of course, we had to get some iconic photos of them LEAVING with their wedding party…

A Flagstaff House Wedding Ceremony in Boulder

Perched above the city with sweeping views of Boulder and the Flatirons, Flagstaff House is one of the most iconic wedding venues in Colorado. It feels intimate and dramatic at the same time, refined without ever feeling overproduced.

Michaela and Chandler hosted both their ceremony and reception here, which created a seamless flow to the day. Guests arrived, settled in, and stayed present. There was no bouncing between locations, just one stunning Boulder venue that allowed the experience to feel grounded and connected.

Why We Love Photographing St Julien and Flagstaff House Weddings

From a photography perspective, this pairing is ideal. Getting ready at the St Julien Hotel provides beautiful light and a calm beginning with an editorial vibe, while Flagstaff House offers texture, scenery, and an unmistakable Boulder atmosphere.

More than that, Michaela and Chandler designed a day that reflected how they actually live. Thoughtful choices. A relaxed pace. Space for real moments to happen, and a brunch soiree that was so fun to be a part of, right down to the live band! Those are the weddings that photograph most honestly, and the ones we are always most drawn to.
